Honeymoon In Arizona

Rebecca and I honeymooned in Arizona, specifically, Sedona.
Our rotten little peashooter camera did little to document the thrill of the vast red mountains that look like the Scottish Highlands but in the desert.

These large, circular splats below are called The Cow Pats.
In our jeep (driven by a rugged bushman type whose name I can't recall) was a young couple who were considering getting married out here.
On top of one of those Cow Pats.
Clearly they were insane.
It's filthy and dusty and you can't get there without some kind of sturdy 4WD or a helicopter or a horse.
We assumed she wasn't intending to wear a white dress.

Below is the Grand Canyon.
It is indeed very grand.

Because Arizona doesn't have a coastline, there aren't many fish here.
Instead, people net rocks for their dinner.
This was empty only fifteen minutes earlier - there sure are plenty of rocks in Arizona.

Then we went to Africa!

Here is a fish carved out of a rock and then deep fried.
At least, that's how it tasted.
The food in Arizona was shit!

We rode horsies.
Rebecca had a little horse and I had a big one.
I think they choose the horse based on the size of the rider.
There's a whopping great Frenchman out of frame riding an elephant.

We drove a Mustang across the state - now I am a real American.
Remarkably, it cost only 40 bucks US to fill it up.

On the way back from the Grand Canyon there was a blizzard.
Zero visiblity.
Driving on the other side of the road for the first time ever.
It was hard.

Then we came home.
Hooray for honeymoons!

great pics, I'd love to go there one day, for the food.

The Grand Canyon? Africa? That's major. Sounds like a real adventure. I'd love to visit the Scottish Highlands as well. And of course, there are places outside America in which cars are driven on the opposite side of the road. It does feel a little weird at first.

Boris - Hooray!

Emmett - We didn't go to Africa.
It was a wildlife park.
Apparently the temperatures of the Arizona desert and the African savannah are quite similar so it's a good place for these things.

The Highlands in Scotland are incredible.
I'd go back there in a second.

Hey !!! Rebekit & Elliot. My best wishes for the new enterprise, the ancient and more difficult of all them.

Thank you El Editor!
We're expecting this new enterprise to be quite successful!

My offspring, her partner and my granddaughter are recently back from the United States of A'merkin.

What they were gobsmacked about (amongst 100 gazillion other things) was that the Grand Canyon was only marginally bigger than every car they passed on the highways and byways.

Are you suggesting that the cars were very big or that the canyon is not especially large?

I didn't especially notice a plethora of particularly large cars (but a lot of SUVs, I guess).
If they found the canyon itself to be underwhelming then perhaps they went to the wrong place.

They were noticing all the SUVs I guess.

They found the Grand Canyon amazing - and I have seen the trillion photos they took which attests to that.

Haven't seen it up cose and personal myself. Flew over it way back in the 70s.

Well yeah - there were a lot, but it is a rural area so it's kind of understandable.

In Queen however it's another matter, altogether...
