Eurovision Art Contest

This months subject was science fiction.
The fellow who won did a marvellous collage involving giant guinea pigs attacking a city.
It was one of two I had trouble deciding between.
His name is Michael Woodruff, and I know nothing about him but will endeavour to look him up.

Cute Bunny

It seems everytime I post a bunch of cute animal pictures, I get plenty of feedback.
Here's another.
I don't especially dig drawing cute animals.
Cute animals in peril are more exciting to me.
Also - I whipped this up because I've been busy and I'm not far from leaving and I hate to go without posting something. Posted by Picasa

Dangerous Australians - Lyrebird

The lyrebird really isn't very dangerous unless you throw it at someone.
It can sound dangerous though, as it's the animal worlds best mimick.
If you murder someone with a chainsaw and it has a listen to it, it can make exactly the same noise (it's true - eerily so).
No many people know that all lyrebirds are made of chalk. Posted by Picasa

Dangerous Australians - Platypus

The platypus has poisonous spikes in it's back feet.
It also speaks cantonese. Posted by Picasa

Dangerous Australians - The Koala

The koala is not very dangerous unless you let them climb up you, or bite you.
The interesting fact about the koala is that they have two thumbs.
Another lesser known fact about the koala is that they are the only animal eligible for half price ticket at the cinema. Posted by Picasa

Dangerous Australians - Cassawary

The cassawary is a very dangerous animal.
A large flightless bird.
It deliberately hunts people down and kicks at them with their nasty, pointed toes.
They especially hate pensioners and have a racist streak. Posted by Picasa

Bear

This is a bear.
There are no bears in Australia. Posted by Picasa

Ella and Monty

For 9 months or so, I lived with 2 dogs, big Monty the German Shepard, and Ella, my mutt.
This shows their comparative sizes. Posted by Picasa

Cosmo

It's a Cosmo girl.
She's wearing deoderant.
She's got her period.
She's feeling confident.
And feels like going surfing or jet skiing or perhaps even a spot of 10 pin bowling. Posted by Picasa

Gal

I would like to have this done in mosaic form on my bathroom floor. Posted by Picasa

And the winner is....

Further down the page I posted two images side by side and asked readers to pick their favorite.
This was it. Posted by Picasa

Che'?

I posted quite a nice John Cleese as Basil Fawlty on drawingboard.org.
I've continued the thread here with a swift sketch of the downtrodden Manuel. Posted by Picasa

This One's For You, Mik

For those not in the know, the Goons was a radio comedy show that ran through the late 40's to almost the 60s.
They were enormously influential on many, many British comedians, Monty Python probably being the most obvious example.
The team was made up of Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Harry Secombe.
Spike wrote pretty much all of it and it's a rather hard show to describe.
Anarchy is the word that springs to mind. Posted by Picasa

Shane MacGowan

I've recently dragged out all my old Pogues CDs.
Shane MacGowan (pictured above) could easily be the ugliest man in the whole world. Posted by Picasa
