Silhouettes and some other things

A post over at The Doodlers reminded me of these old snaps I took when I was in high school.

Unrelated scared cat (my cross hatching resembles that of Dr Seuss sometimes I think - a kind of refined scribble...)

And woman say something, but I don't know what.

A little too cute perhaps...(the dog, not me).

The photos are very interesting Elliot. I really like feel of the top one, has a great tone of mystery and suspense to it. Where did you take those?

JAG - Ha!

Smooker - these pictures were taken in a very exotic location and with specialised materials, by which I mean it was shot in my bedroom with a small cutout character at the end of a rather long box that was the packaging for a standing lamp.
I used the same lamp to light the end.
Thoroughly low tech.

low tech, maybe, effective, yes.

Cheers man.
I particularly like "set up" shots if you know what I mean?
Little models and such...
My favorite bit about live action directing is fudging the shot with additions to make it look like something that really isn't there.
Do you know Terry Gilliams "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen"?
It's full of these love little models - not designed to look photoreal and even more delightful because of it.

Aww, that last one is very cute.
It looks like it should be framed and by your bedside.

Thank guys - and yes - X-files was something I was probably watching about the time I took these.

Is that Ella and Elliot in that bottom pic? There's YOUR Bill Peet children's book! Sweet sketch, Elliot.

That repulsively cute picture is indeed me and the mad mutt....

Smook said...

There's the alternate Bill Peet title, "Me and the Mad Mutt".....

Nice, although I'd probably make it "The Mad Mutt and Me".
A lovely tale of a boy, his dog, and rabies.
