I tend to be fairly heavy handed when it comes to drawing, and I've been making a real effort to loosen up my lines.
I'm pleased with the results but it's hard to resist the urge to not press down harder and harder.
Interesting note - a lecturer once asked me if there were any other painters or drawers in the family.
I have a grandfather who was a musician and apart from him, no other creative types as such.
My lecturer suggested that perhaps as a child he did pick up a pen to draw and they told him to put it down and learn something more useful - like the piano.
I have no idea if he played particularly well, but he played until he died.
The froggy bloke above looks nothing like him.

is that where you live? Forget coming over here- I'll come over there!
Ha - Boris you dawg.
It's not where I live, but I sure wish it was!
It's about an hour and a half from where I do live - a stones throw.
why do you want to loose up your lines? I like your style as it is O_O and your strokes have a lot of movement and expression.
Maybe you should have played the piano but someone put a pen on your hand instead when you were a child ;-P
Delu - how nice to see you in English!
I think it's all a constant process of change.
I'm achieving something a little softer this way and I don't think that's a bad thing.
I don't find it easy though and will probably loose patience.
Further to that, I find the way I hold my pen can be murder on my fingers.
And maybe it's YOU that should have taken up the piano, did you think of that?!
I wish i could play it. All my family does!. My sister is a very good harp player and all my nephews sing and play the piano but all i do is yell in the shower and bang the guitar :-(
I love music, though. Maybe i should try with cooking or...who knows? belly dance ;-)
Me too.
I can't play anything (other than "the fool") but I am a decent singer.
I'm also a capable cook but belly dancing is something I should never attempt I don't think.
If you ever do, we'll appreciate you uploading the video to your site. :-D
As I sit here on another gray day, this photo makes me extremely happy. Thanks for spreading the sunshine, Mr. Cowan.
Love the loose drawing..such life!! The photo makes me feel extremely alive as well!! Thanks
Kick ass sketch as always!
An hour or so away or not I think it would be hard to give up access to that- stunning (helps to have a good photographer too).
I like your drawings both ways.
Smook - I'm happy spreading both sunshine and the thighs of attractive women.
Kevin, Friend of Smook - nice to have you here. Your own work is fucking 'triff!
Martin - same to you!
JAG - It will be hard to give up, and I'm sure this picture visited Photoshop somewhere, but it does look like this...
Ohh, I want to be there, in that photo. It looks lovely.
I'll take you sometime...
