Back Soon

Hey team Bag - I'm off to visit another nation.
Before I go, a big thank you to the team at McKeown/Devita who have kept me in tea and bikkies for the last month.
Let's hope there's more loving to be had in the future.
Visit the website - the showreel is tops.
Also, last night The Big Schling and I went to see The Decemberists, a wonderful band from the United States.
I imagine they are on their way to Australia so all my pals back home should try and see them (Lee and Lisa, this means you).
They are not unlike They Might Be Giants, but instead of existential songs about science and planets and states of being they sing about drowning lovers, sea captains and heroines afflicted by unnamed wasting illnesses.
A highlight of the evening was the guest appearance of Mike Scott of The Waterboys, who sang his bit hit Fisherman's Blues with the band.
For those who weren't able to go here is a interesting thingy made up by some youtube dork - a clip of their wonderful sea shanty, The Mariner's Revenge.
(The other thing they have in common with TMBG is that they are a bunch of dorks, which is possibly why I relate to the music).

TMBG has written more than just songs about science and planets. Songs like that are such a small part of their catalog. Actually, they have more songs along the same themes as drowning lovers (or dying in general) and wasting illnesses than they do of the educational variety.

Oscar - Yes I do.

Anonymous - I am well aware of the body of work TMBG has produced.
Don't be so fucking precious.
