Steve Irwin, popular Australian wildlife enthusiast and crazy person was killed today.
Death by stingray.
I feel it's worth mentioning that despite him acting like a right dickhead on an international level, he did actually seem like a terrific fellow with no agenda other than the preservation of wildlife on this blue and green planet.

I just saw that on Boing Boing.
Crikey.
Sad really - he has two very young children...
Nature has the right to defend itself. The stunt he made dangling a baby in front of a crocodile was crass and despicable...A right sod...I am sorry he died though.
It is sad.
"Death, where is thy sting?
He was great!:O)I remember some of his show when he told about snakes! He was Amazing!:O)
I think the snakes were much more amazing, especially when left alone to go about their own business...
Only the third person in Australian history to die from a Stingray.
I am sad though- he had great enthusiasm, and a dapper dress sense.
Terrible news to be sure. I saw a CBC report say that death from a stingray only occured 17 times over the last hundred years.
I feel that instead of being buried, Irwin should be thrown to the crocodiles.
