Busy again

I am rather busy today so you only get this sketch and a tidbit about the animals themselves.
The wombat is the tasmanian devils closest relation.
They are both marsupials, which means they give birth to young who then crawl into a pouch.
On both these animals the pouch faces backwards.
They drink milk in the pouch.
There you go.

Are you by chance that Australian geezer that always appears on TV doing horrid things to snakes and crocodiles?

Steve Irwin is his name, and no, I'm not.
The crocodiles and snakes often do horrid things back to him.
There's some terrific vision of a small green snake with it's fangs firmly embedded in his nose.

Good thing you aren't him or all we'd read was "Crikey" this and "Crikey" that.

Oh and cute critters. The wombat seems particularily snuggly.

JAG - Interestingly it's the devil that's the more docile of the two.
There is a thing called a Hairy Nosed Wombat, which has rather a lovely name don't you think?

Crikey!

Well, you learn something new everyday. Elliot, you are wise and informative.

Kneel before me Kactiguy and feel the love.

It is a lovely-ish sort of name. Wombat in and of itself is just a good word to say.

There is also a beast called a numbat.

Elliot Cowan said...

It's a bit like a squirrel, but not very much like.

It's an odd place down there!

I'm with Just a Girl on this one. Wombat is just a lovely sounding name. Wombat.
Wombat! I'll be saying it a lot today.

Don - they are quite lovely animals.
They are part of a gruesome urban myth: Because they dwell in tunnels underground, they have an inbuilt instinct to push upwards when they feel pressure on their backs (this bit is true).
The urban myth involves a young child poking its head into a tunnel and getting jammed betwixt wombat and roof of burrow.
The child has its head squished.
I am sure this is all nonsense.

Further to that, there is some extremely amusing footage on the Australian version of Funniest Home Videos where a wombat attacks a kangaroo.

And Claude - cheers pal, always nice to hear positive feedback from such a talented fellow as yourself.

Can you bring me one of each of these when you visit London? They would both look rather stylish as hats on the Kings Road- Chelsea.

I love them.

I don't speak your language there Maria, but I think it says something about nice animals?
There's some lovely work on your own blog.
