Again with the monkeys

These monkeys look the partner of a friend of mine.

And here's another thing.
I have mentioned the talented and delightful Francesco Francavilla before on my blog (the post is a little way down the page and is accompanied by one of my pictures, not his).
Finally I can provide a link to some of his work - a comic he is working on called The Black Coat.
Apart from being a terrific and highly prolific draughtsman, he is also a delightful fellow, full of useful advice for young artists and simply a great guy.
Anyone interested in comic art should buy several copies to keep his Italian stomach full of food and his bills payed.

And here's a bit of treasure.
I was 16 when Chuck Jones made his was to Australia.
I stood in line for a long time to meet the fellow and get his autograph.
I'm not really one for being a fanboy, but this is something I'm especially pleased with.

  2. Alas, I will never get to meet my namesake! All the old boys are sadly passing away. You're lucky. Crookie's met him I believe, while he worked at Warners.

  4. Martin - a quick glance at both Matt J and Smooks blog will reveal that it's really not that big an honor to be here, but thank you nonetheless.

Matt & Smook - make no mistake, I didn't have lunch with the bloke or anything. It was a brief but very friendly chat.
Bugs Bunny was celebrating some kind of birthday at the time that co-incided with the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
Chuck did a question and answer evening and showed lots of cartoons and told plenty of stories.
The scan is from his first autobiography, which is not really a great read, but the pictures are terrific.

  5. I was able to meet Chuck Jones a couple of times. Once was when I was still in art school. My not-a-husband-yet asked Jones what the Bing Crosby's Horse Coming In Last jokes were about in some of the earlier WB shorts. Jones stared at my n-a-h-y for a beat and said, "Because his horses always LOST at the track."

    Oh, yeah.
