The Presidents United

I had a very jolly meeting at Scholastic Books on Friday morning.
In their lobby they have a collection of presidential portraits painted/drawn/hewn by primary school kids.
It is without a doubt the best exhibition of images I've seen in a very long time.
Below are my favorites

A pair of Bush's.
Has anyone ever seen George W. looking so beguiling?

Jodi Sent Me This

Jodi Sandler is a huge fan of Boxhead and Roundhead and she sent me this lovely piece of art to prove it.
We get lots of art from people all over the world so maybe I'll start posting more of it.

What a nice day.
But before I tell you about it, let me tell you why it is I wake up freezing cold every morning.
Note the lack of blankets on my side of the bed, yet still intact on my wife's portion of the mattress.

Now then, note again the full coverage on Rebecca's side of the bed and the rest of the blankets covering the floor.
I think we must have a ghost, as I can't think what else it could be.

My nice day.
Firstly, it managed to be above zero degrees for a few minutes and I didn't even have to wear a hat.
Then I had a lovely meeting with Adam Rau, who is a nice feller.
Then I went uptown for lunch with the marvellous Brian Sibley.
On the way I passed these horses who were so horrified by the kitchy shop they had to live in that they staged an escape.

Later I heard they were eaten by lions in the Central Park Zoo.
Brian and I ate at a pretend French cafe that insisted in calling open face sandwiches tartierres or some other nonsense.

Despite such silliness I had a bloody jolly nice time.
We talked about Lion, Witches, Wardrobes, Walts, Poppins, Jacksons and everything in between.
This old codger wanted to know where we could buy a spy cam so he could take pictures of topless sun bathers in France, but only after kicking up a stink because there was butter on his bread.

On the way back, I noted that the state of Tasmania, where I lived for such a long time was advertising on the corner of Macy's.
How nice to see.

And further to that, Cartoon Brew covered my previous post, about They Might Be Giants.

They Might Be On The Toilet

Today while I was going plops, my mobile phone rang.
"Hi, this is John Flansburg of They Might Be Giants".
He'd seen my little Crumb Factory video (below) and liked it very much.
We talked about Youtube and iTunes and he gave me the very jolly permission to change the credit at the end of the film to "music used with permission" which is bloody nice.
Nice, huh?

Hey there squirrels.
I'm forging ahead with a new Boxhead and Roundhead.
After the heavy handed Brothers In Arms, I'd intended to do a frothy little thing called "Marooned".
That'll have to wait until this tale of paranoia and desperation is finished.
Not sure when it'll be done, but I've made a good start.

Also - who is it in Brighton, Melbourne who is visiting my blog.
I see you there...

Not The First Frame

The last post is not going to be the first frame.
Neither is this.

First Frame

I've commenced animation on the brand new Boxhead and Roundhead.
I think it's called "The Thing On The Horizon", or maybe "The Thing In The Distance" (any preferences, anyone?).
This is currently the first frame but it might end up a little later in the film depending on how it's shaping up.

Competition Time

Enthusiasm for Boxhead and Roundhead keeps growing and growing, here's a competition to keep you all further enthused.

Dear Australia.

Dear Australia.
It is currently a good 15 degrees warmer at Mawson Base, Antarctica than it is in NYC at the moment...

Brilliant Idiocy

The folks over at Xtranormal have created a remarkable piece of technology that enables you to make idiot films.
You put in the dialogue and then add camera moves and some movement.
Here's my first attempt.
My next attempt will be concerned with having the characters use exclusively foul language.

Look at THIS!
This my old house in Tasmania!

Those Frenchies are very bloody handy with animation.
Go take a look at this lovely thing.

A New One

Boxhead and Roundhead are busy at Shorts International, which means I have to take 'em down from Youtube.
So, just like the old days I picked a song and threw together some animation to go over it so you don't miss out on your B&R lovin'.

Hey all.
Firstly, Brothers In Arms was selected as a staff favorite for the Best of 2008 Channel Frederator Podcast.

Then, I gave a little interview.
